Velocity Roads Group is delighted to be working in partnership with VolkerHighways and Luton Borough Council on an innovative trial aimed at transforming how potholes are repaired across Luton.

Over the past month, the project has seen the introduction of a specialist spray injection patching machine, designed to repair potholes quickly and with minimal disruption. The technology enables defects to be cleaned, prepared and filled in a single operation, with repairs completed in minutes and roads reopened almost immediately.

This approach offers significant advantages over traditional repair methods. It removes the need for excavation and road closures, reduces carbon emissions, and delivers a more cost-effective solution for maintaining the local road network.

Velocity Roads Group has been able to bring its specialist expertise and proven spray injection patching technology to the trial, supporting a collaborative effort focused on innovation and long-term road quality.

Working alongside VolkerHighways and Luton Borough Council, the initiative forms part of a wider investment in improving highways infrastructure across the borough, helping to address increasing demand for pothole repairs following a challenging winter period.

Steve Metcalfe, Group Head of Sales at Velocity Roads Group, said:
“We’re really pleased to be part of this with VolkerHighways and Luton Borough Council. It’s been great to see how quickly the approach can make a difference on the ground.

For us, it’s about helping councils find practical ways to deal with ongoing maintenance challenges without causing unnecessary disruption. If we can keep roads safer and get repairs done more efficiently, that’s a win for everyone using them.”
